The outside of your house takes a beating. Salt air, freeze-thaw cycles, summer humidity, and UV exposure – Halifax weather doesn’t go easy on paint. If your siding is chalking, trim is peeling, or you’re just tired of the colour, we can fix that.
We’ve been painting exteriors across HRM since 2014.

What We Actually Do Out Here
Surface prep that most crews rush through
We pressure wash first – not a light rinse, but proper cleaning to remove mildew, chalk, and loose paint. Then we scrape what needs scraping and sand what needs sanding. Bare wood gets primed immediately so moisture doesn’t seep in. Caulking around windows, doors, and trim gaps keeps water out. Rot and damage get cut out and replaced before paint touches it. Painting over bad wood just seals the problem in.
Products that hold up here
Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and Dulux exterior lines. Formulated for coastal conditions and temperature swings. Proper primers for bare wood, chalky siding, or surfaces that have been baking for a decade. We don’t use interior paint outside – sounds obvious, but we’ve had to fix other people’s shortcuts.
Application that matters
Brushed and rolled at trim lines and detail work. Sprayed on siding and large surfaces where it makes sense – with full masking so your windows, roof, and driveway stay clean. Two coats on everything that matters. We work with the weather, not against it, because exterior paint in bad conditions is peeling paint in two years.
Before we pack up
Masking comes off carefully. Windows get cleaned of any specks. We walk the property with you to catch anything we missed. Touch-ups happen on the spot. Two-year warranty on the workmanship.
Exterior Jobs We Handle
House siding
Wood, vinyl, aluminum, or fibre cement. We know what bonds to what and what doesn’t. Prep is tailored to the surface so the finish lasts through Halifax winters and humid summers.
Trim, soffits, and fascia
Hand-brushed for detail. Caulked and sealed so water doesn’t get behind the paint. Damaged pieces get fixed before painting – covering rot just hides it.
Decks and fences
Stripping, sanding, and staining or painting. Products rated for foot traffic and weather exposure. Railings, spindles, and posts get the same attention as the boards you walk on.
Doors and garage doors
Front doors take a beating from sun, salt, and daily use. We use prep and products that keep the colour and finish intact. Garage doors get the same treatment – they’re big, visible, and often neglected.
Concrete and masonry
Porches, steps, foundations. Elastomeric or masonry-specific coatings that flex with freeze-thaw instead of cracking and flaking.
Why Halifax Is Hard on Exteriors
Coastal salt air accelerates paint breakdown faster than inland climates. Freeze-thaw cycles cause expansion and contraction that cracks cheap finishes. Summer humidity slows cure times, so timing matters. South-facing walls fade unevenly from UV exposure if you don’t plan for it. North-facing walls stay damp longer and grow mildew if not properly cleaned and primed.
We’ve painted in Bedford, Dartmouth, Sackville, Cole Harbour, Tantallon, Eastern Passage, Timberlea, and Hammonds Plains. We know what works here.
How It Goes
We come look at the job first. No charge, no pressure. You tell us what you need, we tell you what we see. Then you get a written quote – labour, materials, timeline, total price. Fixed. Not a number that grows later.
Prep happens next. Pressure washing, scraping, sanding, repairs, priming. Then painting with proper products, applied properly, scheduled around weather so it cures right.
We walk through together before we leave. You point out anything that needs attention, we handle it then.
Same approach whether it’s a front door or a full house.
Questions We Get Asked
How long does an exterior paint job take?
Most single-storey homes run three to five days including prep and dry time. Bigger or multi-storey jobs get a clear timeline upfront.
Do I need to be home while you work?
No. We just need access. We lock up when we leave each day.
What if it rains?
We watch the forecast and schedule around it. Paint needs proper dry time between coats – we don’t rush it.
How long will the paint last?
With proper prep and quality products, five to seven years on siding. Three to five on decks and high-traffic areas. Halifax weather is tough on exteriors, so cutting corners on prep shortens that significantly.
Can you match my existing colour?
Yes. We colour-match and test in natural light before committing.
